Title:
PRODUCTION OF AROMATIC URETHANE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0418064
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To readily obtain the subject compound without requiring carbon monoxide and halogen compounds by using an aromatic primary amine, urea and alcohols as raw materials and reacting the urea with the aromatic primary amine in the first step and then reacting the resultant compound with the alcohols in the second step.

CONSTITUTION: An aromatic primary amine, urea and alcohols are used as raw materials. In the first step, the aromatic primary amine in an amount of preferably equiv. or more to the urea is reacted with the urea while removing the produced ammonia to afford an N,N'-disubstituted urea. In the second step, the alcohols (e.g. methyl alcohol or phenol) are added and reacted with the resultant product in the first step to afford an aromatic urethane and an aromatic primary amine. The resultant product is then separated to afford the subject compound which is a synthetic intermediate for isocyanate compounds. The reaction is carried out at 130-250°C both in the first and the second steps.
