Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing an artificial bed log capable of culturing mushrooms having qualities equal to those of mushrooms cultivated by a log for mushroom and also useful for appreciation.

CONSTITUTION: A pattern of a log for mushroom is drawn on sheet paper using a colored solution mixed with a coagulant such as starch. The sheet paper made into a bottomed cylinder, the outside of the cylinder is covered with a film made of a synthetic resin and the interior of the cylinder is packed with a medium. The cylinder is closed and sterilized by heating. The film is partially opened, a spawn is inoculated into the medium, a mycelium is cultured and the film is removed to form the objective artificial bed log. In the sterilization by heating, the coagulant is mixed with liquid juice oozed out from the medium, the sheet paper is stuck fast to the medium. When mushrooms 5 occur on a bed log 1, the mushrooms show external appearance as if the mushrooms live in the bed log and grow.
