PURPOSE: To produce artificial marble having translucency free from cracks free from crack in high productivity, by molding a molding material containing unsaturated polyester resin, aluminum hydroxide, three-dimensional styrene polymer and a curing agent under heating.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Unsaturated polyester resin is blended with (B) aluminum hydroxide having preferably 1W20μm particle diameter, (C) three-dimensional polymer such as polymer obtained by copolymerization of styrene and divinylbenzene, etc., and (D) a curing agent such as benzoyl peroxide, etc., in a ratio of preferably 100pts.wt. component A, 50W250pts.wt. component B and 6W50pts.wt. component C and kneaded to give a molding material, which, for example, is fed to a preheated mold, molded under heating at 60W170°C under no pressure or ≤200kg/cm2 pressure to produce artificial marble of desired shape.
