PURPOSE: To provide the process for production of a base material for the puff which can easily and surely produce the Puff having good flexibility, soft feel, good touch to the skin, etc., and an excellent use feel.

CONSTITUTION: This method consists in producing the base material for the puff having a prescribed shape by incorporating air into a latex compsn., which is prepd. by adding a vulcanizier (powder sulfur), surfactant (potassium oleate), thickener (sodium alginate) and gelatinizing agent (sodium silicofluoride), etc., to a water-soluble rubber latex emulsion (an aq. emulsion of NBR), then stirring the compsn. and heating the air-contg. latex compsn., thereby expanding the compsn. The surfactant is compounded at 0.35 to 0.50 pts.wt. and the thickener (solid content) at 0.01 to 0.10 pts.wt. with 100 pts.wt. solid content in the latex emulsion. The pH of the latex compsn. is adjusted to 11.7 to 12.0. The quantity of the air to be incorporated into the compsn. is adjusted by maintaining the stirring speed at ≥160rpm in such a manner that the expansion times of the latex compsn. attain 9 to 11 times.
