PURPOSE: To provide method of enhancing the pigment stability of a color printing by lowering the oxygen permeability of a base for photographic paper.
CONSTITUTION: This method is composed of a stage for forming a paper sheet and drying this sheet until its moisture content attains about <10%, a stage for applying an aq. soln. of hydrophobically substd. amylose starch on both surfaces of the sheet, a stage for drying the paper sheet until its moisture content attains about <5%, a stage for applying an aq. soln. of hydrophobically substd. amylose starch on both surface of the sheet, a stage for drying the paper sheet until its moisture content attains about <10% and a stage for extruding layers of polyolefin on both surfaces of the paper sheet. At least one kind of color developable silver halide emulsion layers are applied on the base for the photographic paper produced by this method, by which the silver halide color photographic reflection print element is formed.
