Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject amide corresponding to a raw material from a readily available aromatic halide and useful as an intermediate for medicines and agrochemicals in a one-stage reaction by uysing ammonia under specific conditions.
SOLUTION: (A) An aromatic compound represented by formula I [X is a halogen, trifluoromethanesulfonate or the like; R is trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethyloxy or the like; (n) is O or 1-3], preferably 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl) bromobenzene is reacted with (D) carbon monoxide and (E) ammonia in the presence of (B) a group VIII metal of the periodic table (preferably palladium, etc.), and (C) phosphines to produce an amide represented by formula II. Furthermore, a phosphine represented by the formula P(L)3 (L is a lower alkyl, phenyl or the like) or the formula (R1)2P-Q-P(R1)2 (R1 is phenyl, o-methylphenyl or the like; Q is a bivalent group) is preferably used as the component C.
