Title:
PRODUCTION OF BIMATERIAL PART BY MOULDING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04231163
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce the bimaterial part, which is formed by two aluminum alloys one of which constitutes the core and the other the matrix, while preventing the deformation of an inserted article and exactly placing the inserted article by moulding.

CONSTITUTION: In the method, a core optionally containing a refractory skeleton is used, a natural coating of aluminum present on the surface of the core is removed and immediately after that the assembly thus obtained is coated with a film impermeable to gas and consisting of a metal such as nickel, the coated assembly is placed in a mould which is filled with the alloy of the matrix in the molten state at a temp. such that at least 30% of the core is superficially remelted. The method can be applied to the manufacture of motor vehicle parts such as engine cylinder heads and the insertion of ducts for aeronautical parts.
