Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new DNA fragment for production or the like of useful polypeptides by congenic plants which contain the seed peculiar promoter domain of Arabidopsis thaliana gene coding a 2S albumin precursor.
SOLUTION: This DNA fragment is a new DNA fragment, which is an isolated DNA fragment containing the seed peculiar promoter domain of Arabidopsis thaliana gene coding the 2S albumin precursor and contains the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of AT2S1, AT2S2, AT 2S3 and AT2S4 of the formula in this 2S albumin, and is useful in the method or the like of forming useful and biologically active polypeptides by modified suitable congenic plants. This DNA fragment is obtained by screening out a genome library prepared by using the genome DNA in Arabidopsis thaliana with an oligonucleotide probe containing the partial sequence.
