Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a production method simplified in process, capable of reducing utility cost and, simultaneously, capable of obtaining bis(isocyanatomethyl)cyclohexane in high selectivity and high space time yield.
CONSTITUTION: One mol of bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane is reacted with 2-3.5mol of dimethyl carbonate in the presence of a basic catalyst and unreacted dimethyl carbonate is recovered as an azeotropic mixture with methanol and directly recycled to a raw material system. The resultant bis(methoxycarbonylaminomethyl)cyclohexane is thermally decomposed under reduced pressure using a cobalt, nickel or iron catalyst.
