Title:
PRODUCTION OF BISMUTH-CONTAINING OXIDE SUPERCONDUCTING WHISKER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3160028
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing bismuth-contg. oxide superconducting whiskers by which a larger amt. of whiskers can be obtd. as compared with the conventional method.
CONSTITUTION: Powdery starting material having 1:1:1:2:0.5 ratio of Bi:Sr:Ca:Cu: Al is prepd. by blending Bi2O3 with SrCO3, CaCO3, CuO and Al(OH)3. This starting material is melted and the resulting melt is rapidly cooled by suction into a quartz tube to form a cylindrical body. This body is pulverized in an alumina ball mill for 30min and pelletized by pressing under 400kg/cm2 pressure while carrying out evacuation. The resulting pellets are put in an electric furnace and heat-treated at 855°C for 75hr in the air to obtain the objective bismuth-contg. oxide superconducting whiskers.
