Abstract:
PURPOSE: To readily render a polymer infusable by reacting a specified hydropolysilazane polymer with borane.
CONSTITUTION: A hydropolysilazane polymer having the formula (R3Si)2NH (wherein R represents vinyl, H, phenyl, or 1-3C alkyl) is reacted with borane in an amount of 0.01 to 1 equivalent per 100 g of the polymer in a water-free inert organic solvent at 25 to 300°C for 1 to 24 hours while the by-produced volatile product is distilled.
