Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a less colored branched dextrin in high conversion by an economical simple purification process using no expensive chemicals by reacting cyclodextrin with a glycosyl donor in a solvent.
CONSTITUTION: Cyclodextrin or a cyclodextrin derivative is reacted with a glycosyl donor in a molar ratio of 1:1 to 1:20 in the presence of a catalyst in a solvent. The dextrin used is α-, β-, or γ-cyclodextrin and is reacted with glucose, mannose, galactose, or the like. The solvent used is the most desirably dimethyl formamide, and the catalyst used is an acidic ion exchanger. The reaction is carried out at 70-150°C for 2-8 hr to give a product most of which is a low-substitution, namely, glycoside-bonded one.
