PURPOSE: To obtain a calcium phosphate fiber having linear form and large aspect ratio by extracting a fibrous crystal from a crystallized body obtained by melting and cooling a calcium phosphate-based composition.
CONSTITUTION: Calcium-phosphate-based composition is melted and cooled to carry out crystallization treatment or the melted compound is rapidly cooled to form a glass-like body and the glass-like body is re-heated to carry out crystallization treatment. Then, a fiber consisting mainly of a fibrous or needle- like β-Ca(PO3)2 crystal is deposited in the matrix to afford a crystallized body. Then, this crystallized body is immersed in water or weakly alkaline aqueous solution using an alkali agent (sodium hydroxide, ammonia, potassium pyrophosphate, etc.) and the fiber is recovered from the matrix by extraction.
