Title:
PRODUCTION OF CAM SHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61115657
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a cam shaft without disengagement of a cam piece consisting of a sintered body the cam surface of which is dense and highly resistant to wear and in which the part to be bound to a shaft has holes by binding such cam piece by the metal of the shaft part.

CONSTITUTION: The cam surface of the cam piece 27 is formed by compressing wear-resistant alloy powder I such as Fe-Cr-Mo-V-C alloy under a high pressure and the part thereto to be bound with the shaft is formed by compressing lightly Fe-Cu-C alloy powder II which is made porous by sintering to mold a green compact 27 of the cam piece having the hollow part 26 and sintering such green compact in the stage of casting centrifugally the cam shaft. The cam piece which has the highly wear-resistant cam face and of which the part of said surface to be bound with the shaft has holes is manufactured. Such cam piece is half embedded into a casting mold and a molten Al alloy for forming the shaft is centrifugally cast. The Al alloy penetrates into the holes in the part of the cam piece to be cast into the shaft and solidifies. The cam shaft which obviates the disengagement of the cam piece even under the large load exerted thereto is thus obtd.
