Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a high-purity carbapenem derivative useful for infectious diseases, having excellent antimicrobial properties and stability simply and efficiently by reacting a specific azetidine derivative with a specific organic phosphorus compound.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I [R1 is lower alkyl or (protected) hydroxy lower alkyl; R2 is H or protected carboxyl; R3 is H, lower alkyl, etc.; R4 is H, lower alkyl, (protected) hydroxyl, etc.; R5 is H, lower alkyl, (protected) hydroxyl, halogen, 67 etc.; R6 and R7 are H, lower alkyl, etc.; Z is CH2, O, S, NHCO, etc.; m and n are 0-4] is reacted with a compound of formula II (R8 is alkoxy, aryloxy, dialkylamino) in an aprotic solvent such as benzene at 80-150°C for 3-50 hours to give the objective derivative of formula III.
