PURPOSE: Td obtain a carboxylic acid high yield, by deprotecting an organic compound bearing a protected carboxylic acid under mild conditions using a tin compound, or to obtain a carboxylic acid ester by conducting ester- interchange using a tin compound.
CONSTITUTION: A carboxylic acid bearing 1-alkyl-3-aryl-2-propenyloxycarbonyl group of formula I (R1 is alkyl; R2 is aryl), namely-alkyl-3-aryl-2-propenyl ester is allowed to react with a tin compound of formula II (R3-R6 are alkyl, aryl, 1, m, n are 0, 1) in the presence of a Lewis acid and with an acid to give a carboxylic acid or allowed to react with an organic halide of the formula: R7-X (R7 is organic group; X is halogen) to give a carboxylic ester bearing a group of formula III. The protecting group is stable in alkaline or weak acidic conditions.
