PURPOSE: To obtain the subject paper having improved quality of the cast-coated face and improved smoothness, etc., of the reverse face by passing a cast-coated face of a specific one-side coated paper through nip rolls in such a manner as to contact the cast-coated face with a metal roll and then contacting the reverse face with a specific resin roll.
CONSTITUTION: A pigment-coating layer composed mainly of a pigment and an adhesive is formed on one surface of a stock paper and the cast-coated layer is pressed against a mirror-polished heating drum surface while the coated layer is still in plastic state and the obtained cast-coated paper is finished by supercalendering. In passing the coated paper through the first nip in the above process, the cast-coated surface of the cast-coated paper is brought into contact with a metal roll and the reverse face is made to contact with a resin roll made of a thermosetting resin [preferably epoxy resin, etc., having a glass transition point (Tg) of ≥120°C] having a Shore D hardness of ≥83°C (preferably ≥85°C) to obtain the objective cast-coated paper.
