PURPOSE: To easily form cast ingot for combined plate having good quality at low cost by fixing plate-like metal block in a metallic mold by patching plate and pouring molten metal into gaps between both side faces of the metallic mold and both faces of the metal block through the patching plate.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic mold 2 is accomodated in a heat insulating vessel 1 and the patching plate 3 is arranged at one end side of the metallic mold 2 and the plate-like metallic block 5 is positioned between the patching plate 3 and the other end part of the metallic mold 2. Then, the gaps 15 between both side faces of the metallic mold 2 and both side faces of the metallic block 5 are formed each at the prescribed thickness and molten metal pouring part 4 is formed between the patching plate 3 and the one end side of the metallic mold 2. Further, a heat insulating cover 7 arranging a heater 8 is fitted to the heat insulating vessel 1, and heating atmosphere by the heater 8 is uniformly distributed by a fan 6. Under this condition, the molten metal is poured into the molten metal pouring part 4 and flowed into the gaps 15 at both sides of the plate-like metallic block 5 through low part of the patching plate 3. By this method, the combined cast ingot having uniform combined boundary is easily obtd. by compact device at low cost.
