PURPOSE: To obtain a casting having a desired fine hole without need for intricate and difficult metallic molds and patterns by eluting an expendable pattern formed by enclosing a quartz pipe having the outside diameter corresponding to the fine hole of the casting in said pattern in the position corresponding to the fine hole and depositing a refractory layer then performing casting.
CONSTITUTION: A quartz pipe 2 for forming a fine hole is preliminarily installed in a metallic mold 1 for forming a pattern and a pattern material W such as wax is poured therein. A pattern 3 formed upon solidification of the material W is taken out of the mold 1 and a slurry consisting of a refractory binder and pulverous refractory powder is stuck to the surface thereof to form a refractory layer 4 deposited on the surface of the pattern 3. The pattern 3 is then heated to melt and discharge (dewax) the material W, by which a casting mold consisting of the layer 4 is obtd. The mold 4 is then calcined by a conventional method and subjected to casting of a prescribed molten metal M. The casting is taken out of the mold 4 upon completion of solidification of the metal M after casting. The pipe 2 is disintegrated and removed and the casting C having the long-sized fine hole P given by the pipe 2 is obtd.
