Prodn. of compsn. of matter comprising Al2O3 as support, Ti cpd(s)., Mo cpd(s). and Al cpd(s). comprises: (A) impregnating a support consisting essentially of Al2O3 with an aq. soln. of Ti cpd(s). and Al cpd(s).; (B) at least partly drying the prod. from (A) by heating; (C) impregnating the prod. from (B) with an aq. soln. of Mo cpd(s).; (D) at least partly drying the prod. from (C) by heating; and (E) heating the prod. from (D) to a higher temp. than in (D) to activate it.
