Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a catalyst for synthesizing maleic anhydride by the gaseous phase oxidation of butadiene.

CONSTITUTION: A slurry like aqueous solution prepared by mixing 300 pts. of ammonium molybdate, 50 pts. of antimony trioxide, 1000 pts. of ion exchanged water and 50 pts. of hydrazine hydrate is subjected to treatment (a) wherein it is concn. at 70-100°C until the concn. of the solid thereof becomes 55% and subsequently subjected to treatment (b) wherein 700 pts. of ion exchanged water of 20°C is added to the conc. solution to adjust temp. to 40°C or lower and the conc. of the solid to 18% or less. After the treatments (a), (b) are repeated three times, the treated solution is evaporated to dryness and dried in an oven at 110°C for 12hr and further baked in a tubular furnace through which air is allowed to flow at 450°C for 3hr. By this method, a catalyst for synthesizing maleic anhydride having high activity as compared with conventional technique is obtained.
