Title:
PRODUCTION OF CATALYTIC DEVICE FOR VAPORIZING FUEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06320018
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve catalytic efficiency and to freely set the surface area and void ratio of the entire catalytic device by forming a catalytic metal wire into a mesh and forming the mesh into a specified shape.

CONSTITUTION: The catalytic device 11c for vaporizing fuel is produced as follows. Namely, a pure-nickel thin wire capable of catalyzing the thermal decomposition of the tar component in kerosene is used to knit a flat knit mesh 11a, the width of the mesh is made almost equal to the inner diameter of the storage part 5 of the cylinder 3 of a vaporizer, and then the knit mesh is cut to a specified length. The knit mesh 11a is inserted into the hole of a die having the inner diameter slightly smaller than that of the cylinder 3 and pressed to a length slightly longer than the entire length of the catalytic device storage part of the storage hole 5 of the cylinder 3 to obtain a primary formed body 11b. The primary formed body is taken out of the die, inserted into the cylinder 3 and secondarily pressed, and the final columnar catalytic device 11c having a specified void ratio is obtained.
