Title:
PRODUCTION OF CATHODE FOR AQUEOUS ALKALI METAL HALIDE SOLUTION ELECTROLYSIS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5579803
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the inexpensive captioned electrode of low hydrogen over-voltage by pressure-molding then sintering the mixed powder of Al and Ni, dipping the sintered body in an aqueous alkaline solution thereby removing the Al.

CONSTITUTION: After the powders of Al and Ni are mixed and are pressure- molded to the specified shape, the molding is sintered in a non-oxidative atmosphere at temperatures of 400W600°C. Thence, the sintered body is dipped for a long time in an aqueous alkaline solution to let the Al elute completely. The resultant porous molding is highly active and is high in hydrogen over-voltage reduction effect when it is used for salt-electrolyzing cathode.
