Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject ceramic excellent in heat resistance and light resistance without deteriorating its antimicrobial effect or the like, by exchanging the Ca ion, Mg ion and/or Al ion contained in a ceramic with another metal ion followed by coordinating hinokitiol(HT) on the metal ion. SOLUTION: This ceramic is obtained through the following process: a ceramic is suspended in water, a water-soluble salt of a metal except Ca, Mg and Al (e.g. Zn, Cu) is then added to the suspension to effect ion exchange between the metal ion and the Ca ion, Mg ion or Al ion contained in the ceramic [e. g. tobermorite (5CaO.6SiO2 .5H2 O)] and obtain a ceramic-metal ion exchanger, which, in turn, is suspended in water and then reacted with an aqueous HT solution or HT in a molten state at a temperature higher than its melting point to effect coordination of the HT on the incorporated metal ion.
