PURPOSE: To inexpensively mass-produce ceramic parts easy to use for machining, e.g. precision cutting, and having intricate shapes in high yield.

CONSTITUTION: A sintering assistant, plasticizer, org. binder, etc., are added to a raw ceramic powder, and the mixture is compacted into a specified shape to form a primary compact. The primary compact is heated at 120-480°C in a nonoxidizing atmosphere or in vacuum to reduce the plasticizer content and hardened to prepare a secondary compact. The obtained secondary compact is mechanically cut or drilled, and the worked secondary compacts or the plural machined secondary compacts are integrated to form a compound compact, which is degreased and sintered.
