Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simply obtain the title sintered body having superior strength and useful for a decorative sheet, pottery, an electronic material, etc., by mixing inorg. powder with inorg. fibers under specified conditions, molding the mixture by a paper making method, drying and sintering the molded body. CONSTITUTION:Inorg. fibers such as alumina or glass fibers are added to inolg. powder such as pottery stone or mullite powder by 4-50wt.% of the amt. of the inorg. powder and water is further added to prepare a slurry. A flocculant such as polyethylene imine and an org. binder such as polyacrylamide are added to the slurry to fix the inorg. powder on the inorg. fibers by flocculation. The slurry is then poured into a vessel 2 provided with a wire net 1a and a sheet S1 consisting of the solid components in the slurry is formed on the net 1a by suction from the bottom. The formed sheet S1 is dried at 100 deg.C in a short time and sintered at 1,000-1,600 deg.C.
