Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a cholesterol derivative in which hydrogen at the 6-position of cholesterols is converted into hydroxyl group with an enzyme.
CONSTITUTION: A cholesterol oxidase is made to react with cholesterols, e.g. cholesterol, 4-cholsten-3-one or 5-cholesten-3-one, dihydroxycholesterol, dehydroepiandrosterone, pregnenolone, sitosterol, lanosterol or stigmasterol in the presence of dissolved oxygen to produce the objective 6-hydroxy- cholesterols.
