Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a clad ingot having excellent adhesion between layers by laying a core material beforehand fitting steel plate to be weldable at side face and pouring molten metal having different component from the core material into a mold.

CONSTITUTION: The core material 3 is laid on a bottom base 2 in the mold 1 and in the remained casting space in the mold 1, the molten metal 4 having different component from the core material 3 is poured through a runner 5 to insert the core material 3 as cast-in. In production method of the above cast-in clad ingot, the steel plate 6 to be weldable is beforehand welded to four circumferential side faces of the core material 3 and set in the mold 1. The steel plate 6 is melted together with the core material 3 at the time of casting, and the invasion of the air into the space between the solidified shell and the core material can be prevented. By this method, the clad ingot without developing lowering of adhesion between layers at joining face is obtd.
