Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the sticking of the slag on a molten metal surface to a cladding metal and to obtain a clad material having excellent adhesiveness to a molten metal by pouring the molten metal into a casting mold and relatively raising the cladding metal to meet the casting mold as the molten metal surface rises.

CONSTITUTION: The cladding metal 18 is preliminarily inserted into an insertion port 20 of the casting mold 10 and the insertion port 20 is closed. A molten steel is then supplied to a runner brick 14 and the molten steel is supplied through a supply port 12 into the casting mold 10 from the bottom, then the molten steel surface rises. The slag 26 floats on the molten steel surface in the casting mold 10 but the molten steel is supplied into the mold in succession thereof; at the same time, the cladding metal 18 which is preliminarily interposed in the insertion port 20 is raised in synchronization with the molten steel surface. The cladding metal rises accordingly while said metal is always positioned below the molten steel surface without contacting the slag 26 floating on the molten steel surface. The molten steel is cast into the casting mold in the above- mentioned and rested, then the molten steel is cooled by the casting mold to solidify and the clad steel ingot is obtd.
