Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the coating of coated arc welding rods from being cracked in initial drying of the welding rods subjected to coating of a coating material by holding the welding rods for specific time in an atmosphere in which the temp. and wind force are specified thereby predrying the rods.
CONSTITUTION: Welding rods 1 on which a coating material is coated are passed through a predrying stage 5, a low temp. drying stage 3 and a high temp. drying stage 4 by a belt conveyor 2 by which the rods are dried. The drying in the stage 5 is accomplished by holding the rods for 5W15min in the atmosphere kept at 40W100°C temp. and 0.5W20m/s wind force. Productivity is thus improved without increasing the drying equipment.
