PURPOSE: To provide the method for producing coated paper prevented in the generation of its unevenness and mottling.
CONSTITUTION: In the method for producing the coated paper by adding a polyamide urea resin to a coating solution in an amount of 0.05-2.0% per the solid content of the coating solution to control the immobilizing point of the coating solution to 74-82wt.%, coating the coating solution on raw paper or base paper and subsequently drying the coated paper, a means for continuously measuring the concentration of the coating film with a hot air drier equipped with a measuring instrument for measuring the concentration of the coating film and a means for preliminarily drying the coating film with an IR light drier after the coating solution is applied, and before the coated paper is carried into a drier group are provided, and drying the coating film is dried so that the concentration S1 (wt.%) of the coating film after the preliminary drying with IR light satisfies an inequality: So+0.05Δ≥S1≥So+0.3ΔSo where ΔS=Sp-So; Sp is the immobilizing point (wt.%) of the coating solution; So is the solid content concentration (wt.%) of the coating solution when the coating solution is coated. The method can produce coated paper little generating the unevenness of the coating paper caused by the changes in temperatures and substantially not the generation of mottling.
