PURPOSE: To inexpensively produce a cold rolled steel sheet for nonaging deep drawing excellent in dent resistance and face strain resistance by subjecting steel contg. specified amounts of C, Mn, Si, P, Al, N, Ti and Nb to cold rolling and recrystallization annealing and thereafter executing specified nitriding treatment and continuous annealing.

CONSTITUTION: Steel contg., by weight, ≤0.005% C, ≤1.5% Mn, ≤1.0% Si, ≤0.1% P, 0.005-0.2% Al, ≤0.01% N and ≥0.02% Ti and/or Nb so as to satisfy C/12+N/14+S/32<0.9(Ti/48+Nb/93), furthermore contg., at need, 0.0002-0.002% B, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is cold-rolled and is thereafter subjected to recrystallization annealing in a continuous annealing furnace. Next, this cold rolled sheet is subjected to nitriding treatment under the conditions of NH concn. (%) × residence time (sec)=50 to 500 in a nitriding atmosphere of 600-800°C. After that, this steel sheet is annealed for 3-60sec residence time at ≥600°C in the atmosphere of an inert gas and is cooled.
