PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive color filter having high quality by electroless- plating nickel onto a color filter substrate and patterning the plating by a photolithography method thereby forming BS.

CONSTITUTION: A light shielding part which is called 'black stripe' of the color filter to be combined with a substrate of TFT, MIM, high duty, etc. which is a liquid crystal display body for displaying a color image is formed by electroless-plating the nickel directly onto the glass and patterning the plating. The cost is considerably reduced as compared to the conventional color filter by forming the BS part by the electroless plating of the nickel in the above-mentioned manner. Pinhole defects are decreased and the color filter having the good light shieldability is supplied.
