PURPOSE: To produce a composite roll which is securely welded with an outside layer and inside layer by a separating plate made of a steel plate plated with a specifically composed Ni alloy between the wear resistant outside layer and the tough inside layer in the stage of producing the two-layered composite roll.
CONSTITUTION: The separating plate 6a made of the carbon steel plate having an Ni alloy film 6b contg. 1 or ≥2 kinds among B, Si, Cr, Fe and C on the surface is disposed between a master mold 1 and a core 3 in a casting mold which consists of the master mold 1, the drag 2 and the cope 5 and is attached internally with the core 3 for forming a hollow part. A molten high-carbon high-chromium cast iron 9 for forming the hard outside layer 11 having the excellent wear resistant is cast from a ladle 8 into the spacing between the master mold 1 and the plate 6a. A molten gray cast iron 13 for forming the inside layer 15 having the toughness is cast from a ladle 12 into the spacing between the core 3 and the plate 6a. Both molten metals 9, 13 are securely welded via the plate 6a and the composite casting roll consisting of the highly wear resistant outside layer 11 and the tough inside layer 15 is produced.
