PURPOSE: To produce a composite magnetic head which excels in the wear resistance, the gap accuracy, etc. with high productivity, by cutting each head out of a composite block where metallic magnetic thin bands and ferrite plates of high permeability are piled and bonded alternately.
CONSTITUTION: A reinforcing groove 30 is formed to an amorphous metallic thin plate 14 which is produced by a high-speed quenching process. While a reinforcing groove 31 is formed to a high-permeability ferrite plate 15 made of Mn-Zn, etc. Plural number of these plates 14 and 15 are put alternately on each other, and the Pb-glass of a low softening point is coated by sputtering on surfaces 32 and 33 of plates 14 and 15 respectively to form a film of about 0.2W 0.5μ. Then a reinforcing block 20 of Mn-Zn ferrite, etc. and a reinforcing material 18 of Pb-glass, etc. are put into the grooves 30 and 31, and the pressure and heat are applied in the direction of lamination of plates 14 and 15 to obtain an element assembly block 19. The block 19 is cut along a 1-dot chain line 34, and both block half bodies are joined together after forming a winding groove 37, reinforcing material filling grooves 38, 39, etc. Then each head is cut out with application of desired processing. Thus a composite magnetic head is obtained.
