PURPOSE: To obtain the conductive rail having a small specific resistance by casting a molten steel contg. C, Mn, and Sol Al respectively at prescribed ratios by a continuous casting method to a bloom, then subjecting this bloom to hot rail rolling.
CONSTITUTION: The molten steel contg., by weight %, 0.003 to 0.008% C, 0.2 to 0.3% Mn, and 10 to 50ppm Sol Al and consisting of the balance Fe and unavoidable impurities is continuously cast to obtain the bloom. This bloom is then subjected to the hot rail rolling after the bloom is heated by utilizing the heat of the high temp. possessed by the bloom or is reheated to a high temp. after cooling once to an ordinary temp., by which the conductive rail is obtd. As a result, the production of the conductive rail by the adjustment of the Sol Al and a light decarburization treatment is possible. The conductive rail having the above-mentioned characteristics is continuously cast in this way without more than required suppression of the carbon concn.
