Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the adhesive strength to a lens base material and to improve wear resistance by adding a crosslinking agent to an aq. acrylic amide monomer in a stage for graft polymerizing acryl amide on a lens surface. CONSTITUTION:This invention relates to the contact lens base material consisting of the polymer of the ester compd. of methacrylic acid and fumaric acid which is the copolymer of alkyl methacrylate and alkyl fumarate, fluoroalkyl fumarate and siloxanyl fumarate as a raw material. The surface of this material is subjected to a discharge treatment under atm. pressure or reduced pressure in the 1st stage. The acrylamide is graft polymerized to the lens surface in the 2nd stage. The crosslinking agent is added to the aq. acrylamide monomer soln. in this 2nd stage. The contact lens which is improved in the adhesive strength of the lens base material and the graft polymer and has the high wear resistance is obtd. in this way.
