Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simplify the deaeration operation at the time of surface graft polymn. by immersing a specific lens base material into a monomer soln., then impressing ultrasonic waves thereto under a vacuum. CONSTITUTION:The polymer of the ester compd. of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid which is a copolymer contg. at least either of the compds. expressed by formulas I, II, etc., is used as a raw material. The ultrasonic waves are impressed to the lens base material while the evacuation is executed at the time of removing the dissolved oxygen in an aq. monomer soln. in a stage for graft polymerizing the hydrophilic monomer to the lens surface after the surface of the base material is subjected to an electric discharge treatment. In the formula I, R denotes CH3 or H; X denotes 1 to 6C alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, etc.; (m) denotes 1 to 3; (n) denotes 1 to 5. In the formula II, R denotes CH3 or H; A denotes H, cyclohexyl, phenyl or Rf; Rf denotes a polyfluoroalkyl group or pentafluorophenyl group. The compd. expressed by this formula II has fluorine atoms not more than 20 pieces.
