Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the defect of internal quality of a cast billet, to improve the production efficiency of a seamless steel pipe and to reduce the production cost by continuously casting a steel containing a prescribed wt.% or higher of Cr with a mold having the round cross section, applying rolling reduction with a first stand in a continuous rolling mill to form the cast billet to a flat cross section and successively, applying rolling reduction with a second stand in the continuous rolling mill to form the cross section to the round shaped cast billet.
SOLUTION: The molten steel containing ≥0.5% Cr and poured into the mold 1 is formed to the cast billet 2 which is the round-shaped cast billet in the cross section at this step. For example, the size of the round cast billet is 170-340mm outer diameter. The round cast billet 2 is progressed to the downstream side while gradually solidifying, and applying the bending and the bending-back. Drawing-out condition of the round cast billet 2 is controlled with pinch roll group 3. The rolling reduction is applied with the first stand 6 of the continuous rolling mill 5 before completing the solidification. Successively, the rolling reduction is applied with the second stand 7 of the continuous rolling mill 5 to form the cross section to the round shaped cast billet.
