Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a conjugated diene copolymer latex giving high performance as a binder. CONSTITUTION:The objective latex can be obtained by emulsion copolymerization between (1) a conjugated diene, (2) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and (3) another kind of monomer using a combination of (A) as a chain transfer agent, a nuclear-substituted alpha-methylstyrene dimer and (B) another chain transfer agent with these agents added to the system continuously until polymerization yield exceeds 85%. When this latex is used as a binder for pigment-coated paper, balance between the blister resistance and greasiness of the coated paper can be improved.
