Abstract:

To obtain the subject copolymer capable of producing a polymer derivative by copolymerizing allylamine silyl with propylene in the presence of a specific catalyst.

This method for producing a copolymer of an olefin monomer and an amine-containing monomer comprises copolymerizing (B) allylamine silyl with (C) propylene in the presence of (A) a supported highly active Ziegler- Natte catalyst and then subjecting the obtained copolymer to solvolysis to remove the silyl group. Preferebly (D) an amine-containing monomer of the formula CH2=CHCH2NR4SiR1R2R3 (R1 to R3 are each a 1-8C aryl or alkyl; R4 is CH2=CHCH2, a 1-20C saturated alkyl or the like) is copolymerized with (E) an olefin monomer in the presence of the component A, the obtained copolymer is subjected to solvolysis and the silyl group is removed to give a copolymer of an olefin monomer and an amine-containing monomer.
