Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain particles of a crosslinked polymer which are useful for obtaining a coating composition giving a metal-covering film having a high degree of anticorrosive properties, by crosslinking a predetermined vinyl copolymer with a hydrophobic crosslinking agent under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of a vinyl copolymer having a COOH group and a crosslinkable functional group (e.g. a copolymer obtained from methacrylic acid, styrene, butyl acrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, and lauryl methacrylate) and a hydrophobic crosslinking agent [e.g. a polyisocyanate (Burnock 980 manufactured by Dainippon Chemicals, Inc.)] is dispersed into an aqueous medium to crosslink the copolymer.
