Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain cubic calcium carbonate having satisfactory uniformity and dispersibility of the particles, also having high whiteness and thermal stability of the powder and capable of undergoing the control of particle diameter.
SOLUTION: When a carbonate soln. having 0.1-3.0mol/L concn. of carbonate ions is mixed with a calcium salt soln. having 0.1-3.0mol/L concn. of calcium ions to produce calcium carbonate, the solns. are mixed by dropping the carbonate soln. into the calcium salt soln. or the calcium salt soln. into the carbonate soln. in ≥30sec, carbonation is carried while keeping the inside of the mixing system at 3-30°C and the resultant aq. calcium carbonate suspension of ≤pH10 is washed. The objective cubic calcium carbonate having 0.05-5.0×m particle diameter is produced.
