Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a curing composition excellent in strength, adhesion and storage stability by polymerizing an unsaturated monomer in the presence of an unsaturated polyether in a solvent and replacing a part of the solvent with a polyether having a reactive silyl group in molecule after the polymerization.
CONSTITUTION: A polyether having reactive unsaturated groups is produced by polymerizing propylene oxide by zinc hexacyanocobaltate catalyst in the presence of diethylene glycol serving as a polymerization initiator to obtain polyoxypropylene diol and adding allyl chloride to the reaction mixture to substitute the terminal hydroxyl group of the polymer with an allyl group. The obtained polyether is dissolved in a solvent e.g. toluene and polymerized with a polymerizable unsaturated group containing monomer e.g. glycidyl methacrylate and acrylonitril added to the solution. The objective curing composition excellent in mechanical properties, adhesion and storage stability is obtained by replacing at least a part of the solvent with polyether having at least one of reactive silyl groups in molecule.
