To provide an apparatus for producing curved glass products which is greatly improved in productivity and is suitable for mass production while the equipment of the apparatus is greatly simplified and a process for producing the same.
This process for forming the curved glass products by pressurization of upper and lower metal molds consists of a stage of transferring heated plane glass 7 by passing the same through roller 3 transfer mechanisms, a stage for rising the lower metal mold 13 having a plurality of hollow grooves 14 corresponding to the spacings between the rollers so as to project to the upper part by passing the lower metal mold between the rollers in such a manner that the rollers can be housed during ascending in the work for raising the plane glass transported into the spaces where heat insulation is maintained from the rollers 3, a stage for forming the plane glass to the curved glass products by continuously rising the lower metal mold and pressurizing the plane glass in such a manner that the lower metal mold is mated with the upper metal mold 2 having a fixed position, a stage for lowering the glass temperature by injecting cooling air lower than the glass temperature onto the glass surfaces between the upper and lower metal molds simultaneously with the completion of the formation and a stage for discharging the lower metal mold to again install the lowered curved glass products from above the rollers, then discharging the same to a discharge section by roller driving.
