Abstract:
To obtain a cyanonaphthol derivative useful as an intermediate for producing medicines in high purity and in a good yield by a simple method.
This method for producing the cyanonaphthol derivative comprises reacting a halogenonaphthol derivative with cuprous cyanide in the presence of an aprotic polar solvent, bringing the obtained mixture containing the cyanonaphthol derivative into contact with water in the presence of a water- soluble acid and a ferric halide, and further bringing the separated cyanonaphthol derivative into contact with a water-containing organic solvent such as an water-containing alcohol.
