Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a cyclic olefin polymer by using minute amounts of catalyst consisting mainly of a palladium compound component and a specific compound component.
CONSTITUTION: This polymer is obtained by polymerizing a cyclic olefin, pref. a compound of the formula (R1 to R12 each is H, a halogen, OH, amino or a 1-20C organic group, R5 and R7 may together form a ring; (n) is ≥0) in the presence of a catalyst consisting mainly of (A) a palladium compound component and (B) a compound component forming an ionic complex when reacted with a transition metal compound (pref. a complex compound composed of a cation and an anion with plural groups bound to boron atom, e.g. triethylammonium tetraphenylborate).
