Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a cycloolefin copolymer in which the cycloolefin component is incorporated in a sufficiently high rate.
CONSTITUTION: A cycloolefin copolymer is produced by copolymerizing a cycloolefin with an α-olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising an amide transition metal compound represented by the formula YnMX4-n (wherein Y is an amido group represented by the formula: -NR2; M is a group 4 element; X is an atom or a group selected from the class consisting of halogeno, 1-4 C alkoxy and 1-4 C alkyl; and n is an integer of 1-4).
