Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject copolymer free from catalyst residue, having excellent transparency and heat-resistance and useful for optical material, etc., by polymerizing a specific cycloolefin, a specific α-olefin and ethylene in the presence of a catalyst such as soluble vanadium compound and treating the polymer under specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: The objective copolymer is produced by copolymerizing (A) ethylene, (B) one or more kinds of cycloolefins of formula I (n and q are 0 or 1; m is ≥0; R1 to R18, Ra and Rb are H, halogen, hydrocabon group, etc.) or formula II (p and q are ≥0; m and n are 0-2; R1 to R19 are H, halogen, hydrocarbon group, alkoxy, etc.) are (C) one or more kinds of ≥3C α-olefins in the presence of a catalyst composed of a soluble vanadium compound and an organic Al compound, etc., in a hydrocarbon solvent, adding 1-33 pts.vol. (based on 100 pts.vol. of the polymerization reaction solution) of water containing 5-90vol.% of an alcohol, stirring the mixture, adding 50-500 pts.vol. of water to 100 pts.vol. of the above polymerization reaction solution and stirring the mixture.
