Title:
PRODUCTION OF CYCLOPENTADIENE COMPOUND
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3900206
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and easily produce the subject compound useful as an additive to synthetic rubber, etc., from an inexpensive raw material by hydrogenating a fulvene compound in the presence of a metallic catalyst.
SOLUTION: The objective compound of formula II (e.g. isopropylcyclopentadiene) is produced by hydrogenating (A) a fulvene compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-8C alkyl, a 4-6C cycloalkyl, a (substituted)phenyl or an aralkyll (e.g. 6,6-dimethylfulvene) in the presence of (B) a metallic catalyst. The component B is preferably composed of a catalyst (e.g. Co/acid clay catalyst) produced by supporting at least one kind of element selected from transition metal elements of the group IVa to the group Ib of the periodic table and metal elements of the group IIb to the group VIb of the periodic table, especially transition metal element such as Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Os, Ir, Pt or Au on a porous carrier.
